A striking one-of-a-kind centrepiece bowl, hand-thrown in porcelain and softly marbled with cobalt blue.
The wide, open form emphasises the natural movement of the marbled porcelain, creating fine blue lines and subtle variations across the surface. The interior is finished with a transparent gloss glaze, while the exterior is left unglazed to retain the soft, tactile quality of the fired porcelain.
Finely thrown and trimmed, the porcelain is thin enough to reveal a beautiful translucency when held against a strong light, bringing out the structure of the bowl and the variations within the clay. Remarkably light to hold.
At 25 cm in diameter and 10 cm high, it has a generous presence while retaining a light, delicate appearance — designed as a statement or centrepiece bowl for a table, sideboard or shelf.
Handmade individually in my London studio. The subtle irregularities and variations in the marbling are part of the character of the piece and make it completely unique.
