Product Care & Safety

At Meridian Ceramics, each piece is hand-thrown in small batches and made to be both beautiful and functional. Below are some notes on safety and care to help you enjoy your ceramics for years to come.

Safety

All pieces are made with high-quality stoneware and porcelain clays.

Glazes are food-safe, lead-free, and fired to stoneware temperatures to ensure durability and vitrification.

Items designed for food and drink — such as bowls, cups, and plates — are safe for everyday use.

Each piece is inspected before sale to ensure there are no cracks or defects that could affect safety.

My ceramics are not toys and are not intended for children’s play.

Care

Stoneware is durable, but handmade ceramics benefit from gentle handling.

Most pieces are dishwasher safe, though handwashing is recommended to prolong their life and preserve surface finishes.

Avoid sudden changes in temperature (for example, moving a piece straight from the fridge into a hot oven), as this may cause thermal shock and cracking.

Not recommended for hob or microwave use unless explicitly stated on the individual product page.

Some glazes may show natural variations — this is part of the beauty of handmade work and does not affect performance.

Longevity

With proper care, handmade ceramics can last for decades. I design my pieces to be practical, tactile, and durable — items to be used and enjoyed every day, not just kept on a shelf.
